Hiring Me
Using my exclusive Triggers technique, I’ll help you and your business grow faster than ever. You’ll gain new abilities and talents using this approach, enhancing your overall performance.
Using telephone or Skype, you and I will communicate between two and four times per month. Why do I coach via those mediums? For two reasons:
- It eliminates the need to use a strictly local coach; you can use the best coach for you – no matter the location of either of you.
- It saves costly time and fuel.
Some of my clients are currently in Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, San Diego, Chicago, New York, throughout Canada, and even in London!
Getting to Know You
The focus of all calls is you. A coach’s professionally trained ears are tuned to picking up on points within our discussions that will generate more success for you and your business.
I aim to maximize your success by focusing on:
- refining your goals
- keeping you clearly focused on your goals
- providing structure, tools, and support to help you achieve your goals faster
- organizing and prioritizing tasks to increase efficiency, doing more in less time
- inspiring you to action
- holding you accountable
- enhancing your communication skills, so you work better with others
- enhancing your leadership skills, so you can build an efficient and effective business
- creating an optimized environment that includes supportive individuals and effective equipment
- consistently, but realistically, encouraging you to achieve
- mastering your psychology
You’ll receive a Success Accelerator Form to fill out prior to each coaching call. When filled out, this form will help you succeed faster as you get the most out of every phone call.
Training You: How to Master Your Life
No matter the individual (business owner, physician, accountant, financial planner, etc.), I’ll help you scale any obstacles that limit your performance or achievement. With a desire to grow, succeed, and achieve balance in your life, I can show you how to make more money with less effort providing you and your family the resources to lead a rich and rewarding life.
Some of those obstacles are referred to as the Inner Game of Business, the emotional side of being a business leader: your mental attitude, emotional fortitude, life balance, and habitual behaviors. I focus on these aspects, helping you to master and balance it all.
The only guaranteed way to grow your business is to grow yourself. By going through these emotional issues, you will discover what is holding you back or where you are stuck. Your coach will then lead you to the realization of how to become unstuck. Your potential will then be unlocked!
Without going through these aspects, you’ll not achieve your true potential; you’ll not master your life and future.
Value of a Coach
Think about this: How much could you achieve if you had a coach in your corner who not only always believed in you and patiently encouraged you, but who also pushed you toward taking the next step to achieve your goals? How much could you achieve if you had a coach who could help you realize what your unique skills and talents are, improve them, and fully leverage them? Think about it.
Now, you may get an amazing amount of encouragement from your spouse, co-workers, and friends, but which one of them has specialized training in discovering and leveraging your unique skills and talents? (That “special stuff” each human has some of.)
It has generally been the accepted norm that we all just try to survive and follow all the rules, so we don’t take the time to fully develop ourselves. Now, however, we are on a stage of human, societal, and technological developments that allow each person not only the possibility of reaching their potential, but the probability to do so. This probability exists if you have access to the right tools and you can create a suitable environment.
In the U.S. specifically, our relatively free thinking and independent culture allows us to see the inherent value, both personal and financial, of developing one’s individuality. It may be a bit “Californian” to say ‘You deserve to be your own person,’ but it’s true anyhow. Individuality is necessary for long-term, stress-free fulfillment and success in our rapidly changing world.
It has been stated that humans may only use 7% of their brain; I posit that we may only use 7% of our talents and skills! Only 7% of what makes each of us unique is being actively implemented. Are we only living 7% of our possible lives?
A coach will help you increase that figure, improving your quality of life.
The Nature of Our Coaching Technique
Again, my coaching service is provided either in person or by telephone. (As already mentioned above, the telephone is more efficient as it saves you time, energy, and fuel costs. Previous experience has proven it to be as equally effective as face-to-face coaching.)
The relationship that develops between you and your coach is one of equals. The responsibility for action lies with you. The responsibility for support, insights, observations, and challenges lies with the coach.
Coaching is not therapy or psychological counseling. If these are needed, that service is available and can be discussed; I am a certified therapist as well as a coach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is “quality of life” anyway?
A. Quality of life covers many, many things. It is a sum total of those activities and ventures that make up your life and how you feel about them or how they make you feel.
- It’s making more money.
- It’s having more time to spend with children.
- It’s travelling as much as you want and where you want.
- It’s looking forward to the day and being happy to be alive.
- It’s a reduction in problems, both personal and business.
- It’s the elimination of ‘tolerations’ (those things you are just putting up with).
- It’s a strengthening of your Personal Foundation.
Typically, coaches are sought out to fix a problem area or assist someone in making an important change. Clients may want help starting a business, improving a relationship, being promoted, changing careers, increasing their client base, developing a life plan, implementing a marketing strategy, improving leadership skills, reducing stress, prioritizing tasks, unifying all aspects of their life, or being more efficient. Improvement in all of these areas can lead to an improved quality of life.
Q: Can a coach really help me do all that?
A. Definitely. And more. A professional coach is trained in over 200 types of goals, problems, and situations. These are no other professionals who have the depth and breadth of training, along with skills and experience that a coach has.
Even though friends and family are supportive, they are not trained in the art of achievement like a professional coach is.
Coaching is a skill set that requires two years to learn and at least five years to master. (I have been coaching for 13 years, and I am a Professional Certified Coach).
Q: Shouldn’t I be able to coach myself?
A. Yes, in a way. Self-talk and willpower do work, but only when you remember and feel like employing the technique. These techniques may fail you in the middle of a large project when you encounter a problem. The problem of going it solo is that you only see from your perspective; you don’t have other viewpoints that help you stay grounded or reposition yourself. That’s honestly not good enough. Perspective is just as important as dedication and persistence in today’s networked world.
A coach offers you a bird’s-eye view of where you are, along with a strategy for getting to where you want to go, and the support to do so. Think about it. How many Olympic athletes have forgone a coach and actually won a gold medal? These athletes are already the best in the world, right? Do they really need a coach, then? They understand and utilize the value of having someone working directly with you who can keep perspective, encourage, challenge, and focus your efforts. Others have coaches, as well:
- Actors, dancers, and singers have coaches to help carve out their best.
- Sport teams utilize coaches to keep the group focused on the goal.
- Business executives typically have coaches, someone they can honestly communicate with who isn’t biased, to work out new strategies or mash out problems.
Michael Jordan has six coaches. Tiger Woods has two.
Q: I’m not a dancer. I’m not Michael Jordan. I’m not Bill Gates. Can I still benefit from coaching?
A. Of course. You only need:
- a strong desire to achieve
- a willingness to learn new ways to achieve
- an openness that will allow you to include the coach in your process
You don’t even need to have clearly defined goals or have ‘everything just right’ in your life. Honestly, that is part of the coaching process; come as you are.
Because you are buying a professional product, it is absolutely alright for you to want to know what all it entails and whether or not it will really work for you. My coaching techniques will work for you for three reasons:
1. Collaborative Partnership – Coaching works because you gain a collaborative partner, a coach who is:
- there and who has probably already been where you are currently standing, whether personally or with another client
- someone who can easily determine when it’s necessary to pull, push, and shut up
- on your side, who focuses on your strengths and who supports you
- someone you can freely communicate with, who will hear you out and still respect you
- one who helps you focus on those goals you’ve decided are most important to you
The ability to collaborate is one of the meta-skills of this millennium; you’ll master it naturally as a by-product of coaching.
2. Weekly Sessions - Coaching works because of frequent connectivity. Speaking with your coach two to three times per month grants you a consistent support structure that tightens your focus, solidifies your commitment, and provokes you into action.
3. Personal Focus – Coaching works because the focus is on you – not just your stated goal(s). Sustainable success has two parts: the Who (you) and the What (the goal). To work consistently on only one aspect, limits your successful development. Reaching goals is only one aspect of living well.
Q: What part of ‘you’ do you focus on during coaching?
A. This usually includes many of the things that are neglected in the course of a busy life. It is entirely up to you what is focused on, but it can include:
- wants, needs, lifestyle, desires, whims
- vision, choice, personal foundations, bigger thinking
- sensitivity, peace, joy, love, feelings, understanding, acceptance, happiness
- strengths, talents, gifts, creativity
- toleration-reduction, standards, boundaries
- dilemma resolution, relationship skills
A central tenet of coaching is that “You can have it all without the Price.” Meaning, when you (the Who) are taken care of, your needs and wants decrease.
[Note to strivers: Striving exacts a high cost to yourself, your body, and your relationships. There is another way to succeed; ask a coach how.]
Q: How do I find a coach?
A. That’s easy. You’ve already found me; I’m a coach.
Q: How long does a coaching session last? What actually gets accomplished?
A. Most clients are surprised with just how much is accomplished in a weekly coaching session – even if it’s just 30 minutes, without rushing, and without client and coach competing for time to speak.
My opinion is that coaching can be done in as little as seven minutes, because creativity and flashes of insight are instantaneous. The 30-50 minute sessions create a supportive environment, though, that allows free flow of conversation.
Q: What do we talk about during a coaching session?
A. You direct conversation. Typically, we talk about you. Here are some specific examples:
- You can update your coach on your projects orideas.
- Any roadblocks you’ve encountered will bementioned, and you can ask for suggestions on how to deal with them.
- You can develop strategies to better reach yourgoals.
- You can brag shamelessly about your successes.
- You can talk through problems.
- You can discuss a dream or vision and throwaround your thoughts concerning them.
- You can vent.
- You can ask for perspective to help you getanother view of where you are.
- You’ll often create-as-you-talk.
- You’ll discover things you never knew and neverwould have expected to.
- You’ll learn tactics you never knew you neededto know.
All of that can be covered in 30-50 minutes. Really.
Q: How do I know for sure that coaching is a wise investment?
A. Honestly, you won’t have this question answered thoroughly enough to satisfy your curiosity until you’ve tried it for 30 days. Only then will it be clear why it’s completely worthwhile – or that it’s not.
The financial risk to try coaching is very low. There is no binding long-term commitment that you must make. I do not ask for a large amount of money up front. Coaching is even a largely ‘clean’ business. Most clients are introduced to a coach by other satisfied clients via word-of-mouth. I rarely hard-sell, and in fact, this website is far ‘pushier’ than I would ever dare to be in person.
Another perspective is to consider what it would cost you or your business to not have a coach right now. Accountants refer to that kind of loss as an “opportunity cost.” (By the way, opportunity costs are the fastest rising costs of any business, given the faster pace of events today.)
My coaching style is intuitive and logical. In other words, my left brain and my right brain play well together. It has been known to happen that a client and a coach don’t match up well. If you and I end up not being a good match, I can refer you to another coach. I know at least 50 around the country. Even if coaching does not work out, I can still be a resource for you.
Q: What is the difference between psychotherapy and coaching?
A. Psychotherapy focuses on healing emotional painsand traumas.
Coaching focuses on taking action in the present to achieve goals and dreams in your future. Coaching creates a vibrant business and life.
As a note, I am trained as a therapist and can help you overcome emotional blocks to your performance, but that is generally not the purpose of coaching.
Q: What am I expected to do between sessions?
A. During a coaching session, we make discoveriesabout what it is you need to do to solve your problems or move forward toward your goals. It is then your responsibilities, outside of the coaching, to enact that plan. During the next session, your actions will be reviewed and dissected to see if they helped you move closer to success.
You may also be given reading or writing assignments.
Q: Do I have any commitment?
A. Yes. Youmust do the above. You are responsible for implementing the actions discussed during coaching. You also must agree to a series of regular monthly meetings.
Some of my clients have been with me for years. You can continue with coaching services as long as you are being benefited.
Q: Is coaching confidential?
A. Always.Confidentiality is critical and treated as such. I am bound by my license to maintain your confidentiality. I do not discuss your coaching sessions with anyone else unless I have your express permission.
In keeping with my philosophy of protecting my clients, any and all pieces of shared information will remain confidential, including, but not limited to:
- personal information
- future plans
- proprietary information
- goals
- job and company information
Starting the Coaching Journey
Call me toll free at 877-261-0550, or email me at stan@stanmann.com.
To begin I’d like to spend about 30 minutes with you over the phone listening to what problems you’re facing, what your dreams are, and what you’d like to do about them. I’d like for you to share with me what your perfect life would be like. At the end of that call, I’ll share a couple of thoughts with you, and based on what you hear, you can decide to try coaching for one month with a ‘satisfaction or you money-back’ guarantee.
Again, if we don’t match up, I can provide you with a referral to another coach who will be a match. I’ll have been happy to spend time with you whether or not we end up creating a long-term coaching relationship.
[Note: Do you live in a different city or state – or even country? That’s no problem. Most of my clients live outside Michigan. Most coaches are the same, with national and international practices.]
